Gifted
Buchanan County Public Schools recognizes that certain students by virtue of outstanding abilities and aptitudes are capable of high performance thus requiring more challenging programs and services. BCPS meets the needs of students by providing a program of services designed to identify, place, and serve gifted students. The recognition of and the services provided to gifted students in Buchanan County is a natural extension of the School System’s philosophy of serving all students of varying needs, personal development, and abilities.
The Buchanan County Public Schools' gifted program provides individual learning opportunities, resources, and experiences that meet the needs and promote the talents of our students. A local program for gifted students addresses the needs of students who have outstanding ability. The key person in this program is the classroom teacher, who ensures that differentiation of instruction occurs and expectations are held to a high standard, thus ensuring that the division is meeting the needs of every student.
