Buchanan County School Board and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Ink Deal to Fund Consolidated High School.
On May 16, 2024, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers formally agreed to contribute over Ninety-two Million Dollars for the design and construction of a new consolidated high school, to be constructed at the Southern Gap area of Buchanan County, Virginia. The Consolidated School will offer state-of-the-art educational and sports facilities to the County's students and families and is critically necessary to attract and retain employers and a skilled workforce, including local graduates who desire to work and raise families in their hometowns. Funding through the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers would not have been possible without the steadfast commitment of U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner (D-VA) and Tim Kaine (D-VA), and Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA-09), and of their legislative assistants and staff.
